1. Who provides this service

DuckConvert is a personal, non-commercial side project maintained by one individual based in the Czech Republic. It is not a company: there is no legal entity, no registered business, no employees and no support organisation. Where these terms say “we” or “the operator”, that means that one person.

This matters for what you can reasonably expect. There is no service level, no guaranteed response time and no commercial relationship between you and the operator, whether or not you use the site. About describes the project in more detail.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By using DuckConvert (“the Service”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the Service. No account is required and none exists, so your use of the site is the only signal of acceptance either party has.

3. What the Service does

DuckConvert provides browser-based tools for converting, compressing and editing files — images, video, audio, PDFs, archives and data formats. The site is a static export with no backend: every conversion runs on your own device, in your browser, using WebAssembly and Web Workers.

Because the processing is local, the operator never receives, sees, stores or transmits the files you work with. That is a property of how the site is built rather than a promise about how carefully it is run, and you can verify it yourself in your browser’s network panel. The security audit page explains how.

4. Your files and your responsibilities

You retain all rights to the files you process. The operator claims no ownership of, and acquires no licence to, anything you convert.

You are solely responsible for the files you handle and for the purposes you use the Service for. Because files are processed on your device and never reach a server, there is no technical ability to moderate, review, retain or remove what you process, and no way to recover it if something goes wrong on your end. You agree not to use the Service for unlawful purposes, or to process content you have no right to process.

5. How the Service is funded

DuckConvert is free to use and is funded by advertising. The site loads Google AdSense to serve ads, and Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views in aggregate. Those are the only two third parties the site contacts, and neither of them receives your files, because your files never leave your device in the first place.

Sections 5 and 6 of the Privacy Policy describe exactly what each of those services does, what it can and cannot see, and how to opt out. If the funding model changes, that policy and this page change with it.

6. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. In particular, and because the work happens on your hardware rather than on a server:

• A conversion may fail, stall or produce an unusable result. Large files can exhaust the memory your browser is willing to allocate, and a tab that runs out of memory fails rather than queues.
• Results vary by browser, browser version, operating system and device. A file that converts on a desktop may not convert on a phone.
• Output correctness is not guaranteed. Always check the result before relying on it, and keep the original file until you have.
• The site may be unavailable, may change, or may be withdrawn entirely at any time and without notice. It is a hobby project, not a service anyone has undertaken to keep running.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Service, including lost, corrupted or incorrectly converted files, lost time, or any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not permit it to be limited.

8. Third-party content

Advertisements shown on this site are selected and served by Google, not by the operator, who has no advance knowledge of which ads appear on which page. Links to external sites, including those in advertisements, are not endorsements, and the operator is not responsible for their content or their practices.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. Any dispute arising from them or from your use of the Service falls to the competent courts of the Czech Republic. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EU, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence.

10. Changes to these terms

These terms may change. Any revision is published on this page with an updated “Last updated” date above, and continuing to use the Service after that constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. There is no mailing list to notify, because the site collects no addresses.
